For some years, the architectural offices of Moshe Safdie Associates have been located
in a converted factory building on the Somerville/Cambridge line near Inman Square. In order to accommodate increased staff requirements, the firm designed an expansion of the building, including an extension to match the existing brick and large punched window building envelope. This addition is joined to the original structure with elevator and stair towers, and features a large glass block wall facing south. On top of the entire structure a curved metal roof mezzanine has been added, with glass curtain walls allowing maximum light and view. Now under construction and renovation, the offices are scheduled for occupancy during the summer of 2009. |
