Hear from the Architect
"The client needed to add work space without seeming to change the proportions of the structure. The solution was to blend the lines of the proposed second floor into the new roof, thus reducing the apparent size of the addition. Beyond that, we had to pay close attention to scale and texture, because anything overwrought would have been out of keeping and in competition with the grace of the main house. The result was an addition that enhances its surroundings by being in sympathy with the site and the design of the main residence, while providing a comfortable and atmospheric interior."
